Custom Fabrication Services: What We Offer
Whether your needs are structural or ornamental, steel or aluminum, Mathews Mechanical has a top-of-the-line fabrication team ready to serve you. From our AWS Certified Welders to our plasma cutting and steel fabrication engineers to the custom fabrication designers, Mathews Mechanical brings together all the experts in one place to get you from an idea or need to a functional, customized, and ready-to-use fabrication right in your facility.
Design & Drafting
The greatest benefit of choosing custom fabrication is the opportunity to build something uniquely designed for your specific needs. Our custom fabrication designers will measure your spaces, take into account all of your requirements and preferences, and draft truly custom designs that make your workspaces work for you. We work with a variety of welding techniques to create the most reliable custom fabrications for our customers, including:
- Tungsten Inert Gas or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG/GTAW)
- Metal Inert Gas Welding (MIG/GMAW)
- Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)
- and Shielded Metal Arc or “Stick” Welding (SMAW)
Process Equipment Skids
Also known as “modular process skids,” process equipment skids are the most custom, easily adaptable process systems. This self-contained model integrates well with many different systems and manufacturing processes as it is all built into a frame for smooth transportation between job sites or areas around your facility. Process equipment skids can cover individual processes or entire process applications. The custom fabrication process involves both building the system per your needs and integrating it into your facility. Processes that make use of equipment skids include:
- Chemical processes in pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, and food processing
- Oil and gas compression, metering, and filtration
- Water treatment
- HVAC or other heating and cooling
- Power generation
- And individual processes like pumping, heating, cooling, filtration, and dosing
Steel Support Structures
Using a combination of sheet metal and structural metal, our team of engineers, assemblers, and welders creates fully custom steel support structures for all manner of industry needs. We have fabricated steel structures for factories, construction sites, the automotive industry, and more, combining standard beams, bearing piles, and custom builds to create structures exactly fitted to your facility.
Railing, Stairs & Ladders
To enhance both safety and functionality in warehouses, manufacturing facilities, or any other building in need of custom metal fabrication, we offer fully customized railings, stairs, and ladders. The integrity of these custom fabrications is vital for safe working conditions, and you can rely on Mathews Mechanical to ensure every weld is the highest quality to lock your railings, stairs, and ladders in place.
Platforms & Mezzanines
Platforms and mezzanines are useful for expanding on existing facility space by custom building a second story that can operate as additional storage or even increased workspace. Our industrial platforms and mezzanines are built with the strongest of structural steel for optimal load-bearing capacity. They are made to last and withstand everything from extreme weather conditions in outdoor settings to heavy-duty processes in manufacturing. Our work doesn’t start and end with fabricating a platform, either. Because this is a custom build, we take the time to integrate it into your space with any other existing equipment or additional custom fabrications.
Plasma Cutting
Custom fabrication involves cutting down sheets and beams to appropriate sizes for the given project, and we do this through a precision cutting process known as plasma cutting. This highly precise plasma system works to slice cleanly through conductive materials like stainless steel and aluminum, leaving a smooth finish that marries perfectly with our superior welds. As with our AWS-certified welders, we take our approach to plasma cutting seriously. Our plasma-cutting technicians are masters of their craft, giving you a personalized touch with every cut.
Dollies & Carts
Dollies (also known as “hand trucks” or “box carts”) are common pieces of industrial equipment with a tall handle for employees to maneuver and a flat ledge or base to stack loads on. They are used to manually move from A to B in a facility. While there are standard L-shaped dollies and carts available, these won’t always meet your unique material handling needs. For instance, if you need to be able to maneuver more loose materials around your facility rather than sturdy, stackable boxes, then you may require a customized cart that can hold those materials in place during transport.
