Industrial Pipe and Plumbing

The Mathews Mechanical team has over 30 years of experience designing, installing, and repairing industrial plumbing systems and all of the pumps, valves, and other components and equipment involved in an effective industrial piping system. From serving food and beverage facilities to distribution to wastewater and other manufacturing plants, we bring a wide range of expertise, and we’re ready to help solve your piping challenges.

Our Industrial Pipe and Plumbing Services

Our piping experience covers a wide range of piping and plumbing methods and materials, enabling us to provide a full range of installation and repair services for everything from supply and drain lines to general process plumbing repairs, replacement, and reconfiguration.

Supply and Drain Lines

Supply and drain lines are vital to industrial plumbing and piping systems, as they deliver fresh water and expel or move unwanted waste fluids away from the facility and to a treatment plant. Industrial waste fluids may include sewage, gray water, wastewater, and other fluids requiring underground drainage.

At Mathews Mechanical, we can design and configure the right piping for your industry needs to ensure your piping and plumbing are safely set up to distribute and drain water, chemicals, and other liquids into and out of your facility as needed.

Industrial Plumbing Replacement and Repairs

Because your facility’s plumbing connects directly to water and sewage lines in your area, it must adhere to specific building codes and regulations to ensure the safe water transport and protect against wastewater and sewage contamination. Our team at Mathews Mechanical designs to-code plumbing systems and can replace or repair existing plumbing systems to solve your plumbing issues and ensure your system adheres to all the necessary regulations.

General Process Piping Replacement and Repairs

Not all piping systems are used for plumbing, especially in manufacturing and distribution facilities! Because general process piping systems may be used to transport a variety of materials, you need an expert design and installation team that can advise on the correct materials and equipment for your unique piping needs. Food and beverage facilities, chemical processing facilities, water treatment plants, and even breweries and pharmaceuticals all have very different needs for process piping.

While process piping doesn’t fall under building codes and regulations like plumbing does, it will still need to adhere to specific requirements depending on the application. For instance, process piping for liquids will need to be corrosion-resistant. If moving high-temperature materials, it may also need to be made with materials rated highly for heat resistance. Our team will assess your use environment and design a safe process piping system that meets the necessary standards.

Piping Installation

Piping systems are built of multiple sections of piping connected together. These pieces are generally connected through one of two methods: welding or threading. Our installation team at Mathews Mechanical will advise on the best method for your pipe or plumbing system to ensure safe and effective operation.

Welded Piping

Welded piping is exactly what it sounds like. The piping sections are welded together for a permanent, seamless pipeline that is durable, reliable, and resistant to external forces and corrosive environments. Welded piping offers efficient transfer for oil, gas, water, and other chemicals.

Threaded Piping

Threaded piping offers a more flexible solution to piping systems with non-permanent joints that can be opened without cutting into the pipe. Threaded piping is a low-cost yet effective option for non-critical applications where piping is at lower risk of fatigue and doesn’t face high temperatures.

Industrial Piping Materials

The right materials for your piping system depend on what materials you need to transport. We thoroughly research and assess the best materials for each use environment, providing our customers with a piping design that they can count on for the long term.

Industrial Aluminum Piping

Aluminum piping is a low-density, lightweight material that is excellent for intricate, custom piping designs, and has the added benefit of using a variety of alloys to suit different environments and uses. If exposed to a corrosive environment, aluminum naturall forms a passivating coating to avoid further corrosion on its internal structure, stopping corrosion in its tracks.

At Mathews Mechanical, we are proud installers of Parker Transair Aluminum Pipe—perfect for compressed air, vacuum, or inert gas applications.

Industrial PVC

PVC—or “polyvinyl chloride”—is a popular material used in sewage pipes, water mains, and irrigation systems because the material is non-corrosive, cost-efficient, and sustainable. This lightweight material is smooth to encourage faster flow and can be fully customized to a variety of sizes, thicknesses, and shapes.

Copper Piping

Mathews Mechanical is proud to install and service the Viega ProPress System—the #1 press fitting in the industry with sized ranging from ½” to 4”. This copper piping system is approved for a variety of liquid, fuel, and gas applications. The system is connected through the copper sweat or “crimping” method, using Smart Connect technology to identify and resolve unpressed connections quickly.

Industrial Pumps

When a pipe or plumbing system experiences a pump failure, this puts the entire facility as risk of flooding and other damage as the materials that were supposed to be drained or relocated build up and leak into other parts of the facility. Depending on the use environment, pumps may require more frequent maintenance or replacement to reduce the risk of damage. At Mathews Mechanical, we offer preventative maintenance as well as 24/7 emergency service for pump replacement and repair. We have provided these services to a variety of facilities including wastewater treatment plants, government facilities, and even water amusement parks needing pump replacements during the off-season! Some examples of pumps we install and service include the following:

  • Centrifugal pumps that move and expel liquids using centrifugal force.
  • Diaphragm pumps (also known as pneumatic or AOD pumps) to transfer chemicals with high flash points
  • Fire hydrant systems to provide high pressure and high force expulsion of water.
  • Gear pumps to transfer oil, grease, and thick liquids without solid materials. Lobe pumps that use rotating “lobes” and suction to move dense liquids.
  • Piston pumps for enhancing the efficiency of more complex pumps.
  • Submersible pumps for moving sewage, stormwater, and other waste and foodstuffs.
  • Screw pumps for transfer of high-viscosity materials like oil and fuel.

Industrial Valves

Valves are designed to open and close, sealing off sections of piping to regulate the flow of materials throughout the system. They may also offer partial obstruction to reduce the amount of flow without cutting it off entirely. Some examples of valves we install and service include the following:

  • Balancing valves for use in fluid power applications like pneumatics and hydraulics as well as HVAC systems.
  • Ball valves for a low-maintenance and long-lasting valve in low-pressure applications.
  • Butterfly valves to regulate a precise amount of liquid flow with high accuracy and reliability.
  • Gate valves to fully block flow. Operates similarly to a ball valve but with less flow restriction when fully open.
  • Globe valves for a leak-proof valve with short opening and closing times, offering a good general purpose solution for wastewater, process, and food processing plants.
  • Check valves to allow fluid flow in only one direction, typically for pumps, gas lines, and HVAC systems.
