Types of Car Stackers We Install & Service
There are many different types of car stackers, and what you need for your garage or parking lot largely depends on the space you’re working with. Tighter spaces or low-roofed garages will have different needs than large, spacious garages that are able to fit any kind of car stacker imaginable. A valet parking garage will require more flexibility and quick use than a long-term storage facility that may leave cars on stackers for months at a time.
Two-Level
Standard two-level car parking lifts are excellent for smaller spaces where only a few cars need to be stored. These are popular for personal use and for professional parking storage with smaller fleets. This is the most basic form of car stacker, with a simply hydraulic lift to raise and lower the car from one level to the next.
Multi-Level
Car stackers can extend multiple levels and rows in connected arrangements to accommodate several vehicles from sedans to SUVs. Depending on the garage height available, multi-level car stackers can be four levels or even higher.
Angled Design
Angled-design car stackers are useful for low-ceilinged storage, as the set-up can make room for two cars without requiring much height. If you’re working within a tight space, an angled design might be the way to go. The top level car can only be removed from the lift after the bottom level is moved first, so this is a handy solution for car storage or for parking a car on the upper level that is used infrequently.
Stack and Slide
Stack and Slide car parking lifts are excellent for larger fleet parking where cars need to be moved in and out frequently, such as rental car storage or even valet parking. This type of car stacker involves driving a car onto a platform which then lifts and slides into its proper position in the parking facility.
Turntable
Turntable car stackers are exactly what they sound like: car parking lifts with a rotating platform to make it easier to get vehicles in and out without altering your existing garage space. Turntables can also be useful for displaying cars on showroom floors.
Suspended Platform
Suspended platform car stackers are integrated into the parking garage itself with a frame structure for column-free parking lift storage. The lack of pillars and structure holding this stacker in place provides excellent use of space compared to isolated car stackers that may limit the size of car that can park underneath.
In-Ground or “Subterranean”
Making use of vertical space doesn’t have to be above ground – subterranean parking lifts make use of in-ground space to store cars beneath those on the main level of the garage, rather than above. These types of car stackers are popular in residential garages, where a car owner may want to protect their sports car or antique ride from prying eyes when not in use. The discreet design blends in well with the garage floor so you can’t even tell there’s a secret car stacker beneath your primary vehicle!
