Here, we are more than just mechanical engineers. We’re designers, which means we develop new products and systems customized to our clients’ needs. Our in-house engineers specialize in a variety of mechanical and electrical designs, ensuring we can always meet your facility’s needs.

Our Engineering Design Process

1. Assessment and Analysis

To provide custom solutions catered to each client, our engineering design process begins with assessing and analyzing the current situation to provide the best solutions to improve efficiency and increase automation. We work closely with our clients to thoroughly understand their pain points before we begin designing engineering solutions.

2. Design and Wet-Stamped Drawings

We can provide structural engineering and wet-stamped drawings as required. That every design a customer receives from Mathews Mechanical is up to code and has been engineered by a professional, certified engineer!

3. Project Management and Installation

Once designs have been certified by our in-house engineers and approved by the customer, we can begin installation. Depending on the scope and complexity of the installation, this process can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. By partnering with our customers, we make sure the process is as nondisruptive to daily workflows as possible.

4. Ongoing Inspections and Maintenance

Mathews Mechanical will never leave you in the lurch after a new installation! Our 24/7 emergency service guarantees your go-to mechanical engineers are just a phone call away, and we will continue regular inspections and maintenance following any engineering services we provide.

Hydraulics vs. Pneumatics: Which is Right for You?

Hydraulics and pneumatics are often considered two sides of the same coin, so knowing their differences can help you determine which engineering solution is right for your business.

Hydraulics

Hydraulics use pressurized liquids to generate, control, and transmit power. Hydraulics are most commonly used for elevators, presses, hoppers, cylinders, lifts, and even amusement park rides. Hydraulic designs are ideal for moving and lifting heavy loads, as the incompressible liquid can withstand significant pressure.

Pneumatics

Pneumatics use compressed air or inert gas for shock absorption or smaller, lighter-weight moving and lifting. Pneumatic design has traditionally been applied to smaller devices but has expanded to larger equipment like conveyor systems. The clean, dry, compressed air makes pneumatics ideal for industries that require zero contamination risk such as food and beverage or pharmaceuticals.

Mechanical Design Services We Offer

  • Hydraulic door design, installation, and maintenance
  • Motor maintenance
  • Robotic part handlers
  • Custom hydraulic or pneumatic parts
  • And more!

Structural Calculations

Our structural calculations service will provide you with a thorough understanding of the engineering services required to meet your needs and ensure your systems are up to code. We will provide you with the following calculations:

  • Type and amount of materials required

  • The precise dimensions of structural works and fittings (joints, walls, beams, etc.)

  • Labor expectations

  • And an estimated timeline for completion of the installation

Computer-Aided Design (CAD) & Drafting Services

Through our computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting services, we provide clients with digitally-created design simulations of their new installation, whether it be a custom metal fabrication or material handling solutions.

CAD drafting allows us to evaluate and document the mechanical components, assemblies, and products needed for a particular design, providing greater flexibility than paper drafting and design. These detailed two-dimensional or three-dimensional models and simulations of mechanical systems provide a visual outlook of what our custom solutions for your business will look like before you commit to the installation!

We have used CAD drafting software for designs in many industries, including automotive, aerospace, and industrial manufacturing.

Equipment Integration Services

Not every engineering project is a complete overhaul of your existing systems! You may already have a comprehensive crane system in place but need to upgrade by incorporating a new crane without replacing the entire set-up. We can help with that!

Our certified mechanical engineers are experts at customizing equipment to seamlessly integrate with your existing set-up, improving on the solutions you already have in place so you don’t have to start from scratch every time.
